Mothers Day with Dolphins in Paradise

Struggling with ideas for what to get your mum this Mothers Day?.. Well I may have the perfect idea for you!.. I must admit, it is nice to get spoilt from time to time, and I know a lot of mums out there feel the same. But sometimes it’s not about the physical presents, but the physical presence. Why not create lasting memories that you can cherish for a life time with your mum. I know she will love it.. Here at Dolphins in Paradise, we don’t offer just a tour, but an experience! If you live in south east Queensland, then you know how incredibly spoilt for choice we are when it comes to natural wonders. However when you ask most locals if they’ve ever been to Moreton Island, most of the time the response is an astounding, no! Moreton Island is a like a dream.. think white sandy beaches, turquoise blue waters, snorkelling amongst hundreds of tropical fish and turtles, then to top it off, it is home to many pods of Bottlenose Dolphins and a large population of Dugongs. On a typical day out with us, you get to experience all of that and more! And to make it even more enticing for mum, there’s no need to pack lunches, as we offer a buffet lunch, including fresh local prawns, and morning and afternoon tea. Plus, she can enjoy a glass of wine, or a corona from our licensed bar. You don’t have to worry about a thing, we take care of it all. Show your mum how much she means to you by taking her...

Snorkeling the Tangalooma Wrecks: The Best Dive Site in Queensland

Snorkeling the Tangalooma Wrecks: The Best Dive Site in Queensland

If you’re an avid snorkeling enthusiast and love to explore nature’s aquarium, then it doesn’t get much better than the Tangalooma Wrecks. The Tangalooma Wrecks are one of the few you are actually allowed to snorkel – which makes it one of the most unique diving sites in Queensland. What’s even more surprising is that this hidden gem is merely an hour’s boat ride away from the capital city of Brisbane. The wrecks were formed almost 60 years ago, when 15 old, decommissioned ships were deliberately sunk close to the shore of Moreton Island. Not only did this long line of sunken ships create a barrier to shield smaller ships sailing through the bay, but it became a haven for a host of marine life who now call the Tangalooma Wrecks home. Hundreds of species of fish, wobbegong sharks, turtles (sometimes even dolphins) surround the wrecks. Another great thing about snorkeling the Tangalooma Wrecks is that in parts the dive site is quite shallow – there are even areas where you can stand up and observe the fascinating wrecks from above. The water clarity is so exceptional that you can snorkel on the surface and still observe the marine creatures and nooks and crannies of the wrecks. Or, dive down and explore the world below, where the reef has had 50 years to develop and grow over the old structure of the shipwreck. If you choose to participate in snorkeling on our Dolphins in Paradise tour, we provide all the snorkeling equipment (mask + fins) plus two guides who are in the water, pointing out all the most fascinating...
A Day Out With Dolphins In Paradise

A Day Out With Dolphins In Paradise

Dolphins in Paradise showcases one of the best snorkeling spots in Queensland – a state that’s known for its beautiful clear waters filled with an abundance of marine animals (the most famous of which would be its many dolphin pods). The tour departs at 9:30am from the Rivergate Marina, and it takes around an hour on the water until we reach Moreton Island. On the way out the friendly crew serve morning tea – you can enjoy a refreshing cuppa and biscuits from our spacious upstairs deck, enjoy the cool breeze from the bow or enjoy the view downstairs seated at our tables. Once we arrive at the island, we begin to travel north while the crew start spotting the marine life and do a fascinating commentary on the many marine animals that reside in the clear waters of Moreton Bay – including (but not limited to) dolphins, dugongs, turtles and endless species of fish. You can even have a crack at spotting the animals yourself, if you want to be the lucky first (tip – you’re looking for any movement in the water or shapes that break the surface. If it has a fin, then you may have spotted a dolphin – if not, it might be a dugong! A moving, large circular dark shape in the water tends to be a turtle – you can often see them chasing after the fish.) After you’ve worked up an appetite from all that spotting and creature watching in nature’s aquarium, you can fill up on a delicious buffet lunch of fresh prawns, chicken, a variety of handmade salads and...
