Once welcomed aboard, sit back and enjoy morning tea, coffee, biscuits and lamingtons (it would be unaustralia not to!) as we head over to the fascinating and diverse world of the Moreton Bay Marine Park. Moreton Island is renowned for it’s diverse and abundant marine life and crystal clear water where dolphins play and dugongs feed amongst giant Loggerhead turtles.
As we pull up at the Tangalooma wrecks, our experienced snorkel guides brief you on the day’s conditions and give you a rundown on how to use the snorkelling gear. By the time you know it, you’re floating in a kaleidoscope of colourful fish, while guides point out rare and fascinating creatures, such as wobbegongs, rays and octopi. The scuttled wrecks boast both soft and hard corals, and over 250 species of fish, making it an unforgettable experience for both the kids and yourself!
By the time you’re back on board, lunch is being served up at the bar (yes that’s right! – NO PACKING LUNCHES!). Satisfy your hunger with fresh and local prawns, chicken, a range of different salads and freshly baked bread rolls. Trust me, you do not want to miss this!
Now it’s time to explore the island beaches. During this free time, you can either relax and swim in the clear, calm waters of Moreton Island, or for the more adventurous (and energetic kids), climb the slipping sand dunes for a spectacular view over Moreton Bay. Plenty of photo opportunities for all, whether family photos, nature photos or just selfies (let’s be honest – it’s one of the best backgrounds for a selfie).
To top off the day, we set off in search of marine life during our marine eco tour. Our Marine Naturalist will entertain you with insightful commentary blending aspects of marine cetacean behaviour with interesting history of the Moreton Bay islands. Keep your cameras ready for the perfect photo opportunity, as dolphins frequently ride the bow of the boat, and turtles pop their heads up to say G’day. Even Dougy the Dugong makes an appearance quite regularly.
On our way back to the mainland, crew are serving up platters of fresh, seasonal fruits: always a big hit after a day of sun and salt water. Sit back and watch the sun set over the bay, while you enjoy a cold beverage from our licenced bar. Trust me, you’ll will be thanking us and left wondering why you hadn’t been on this tour yet!
